Julia Hightower attended Georgia State University, where she received her undergraduate and law degrees (B.A. & J.D.). While attending law school, she served on the board of the Estate Planning and Wealth Management Society and as Justice of the Georgia State University Honor Court. She also worked for a private practice real estate firm, the law library, and for the GSU College of Law Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic. In recent years, she has served on the board of the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Atlanta Bar Association and is an issue editor and contributing writer for The Mortmain, that Section’s quarterly newsletter. She is a member of the Fiduciary Law Section of the Georgia State Bar, and the Estate Planning and Probate Section of the Atlanta Bar. She is admitted to practice before the Superior Court of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Georgia, and the United States Tax Court.
Julia specializes in finding creative solutions for high-net-worth individuals in the areas of estate planning, tax planning, business succession planning, post-mortem planning, estate administration, trust administration, estate tax return compliance, gift tax return compliance, and tax controversies. Julia represents individuals on the planning side, as well as Executors and Trustees in connection with the administration of estates and trusts.
